Gold Standard of Care
Rosary Hall is built on a legacy of compassionate healing, standing on the shoulders of those who have come before us since our founding in 1952. The medical model of alcoholism/addiction as disease was just beginning and the philosophy of treating people with alcoholism with dignity and respect was at the forefront. This value is still at the heart of our treatment programs.
Building on our solid foundation in addiction medicine, our gold standard of care in treating drug and alcohol use disorders includes:
- Clinical Excellence — Led by highly accomplished physicians, counselors and social workers, we are experts in the treatment of substance use disorders—and experts in providing compassionate, comprehensive care.
- Care without Barriers — We understand that affordable and reliable transportation is often one of the largest barriers to treatment. That’s why we offer free round-trip transportation via Lyft and bus passes to ensure you can be here in person.
- Safety, Trust & Understanding (trauma-informed care) — Many people facing addiction have also experienced trauma, loss or difficult life experiences. We foster a safe and supportive environment where you feel heard and cared for throughout your recovery journey.
Support for Every Step of Recovery
We offer a range of outpatient treatment options to help you succeed. These include:
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) [Note: this subhead should be smaller than other subheads]
IOP is most effective when it’s in-person, which is why we conveniently offer both morning or evening options to support your first five months of recovery:
- Traditional IOP — Mon, Tues, Thurs 10 a.m. – noon (24 sessions)
- Women’s IOP — Mon, Weds, Fri 9 a.m. – noon (24 sessions)
- Evening IOP — Mon, Tues, Thurs 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. (24 sessions)
What Does Our Programming Include? [Note: this subhead should be smaller than other subheads]
We use several evidence-based treatments to structure care, which can include:
- Understanding Thoughts, Triggers & Actions (cognitive behavioral therapy) — Through supportive group sessions and guided conversations, learn healthier ways to respond to stress, anxiety, cravings and everyday challenges while building positive habits that support long-term wellness.
- Learning Healthier Ways to Cope (dialectical behavioral therapy) — Life can feel overwhelming during recovery. We help you develop practical tools to manage emotions, navigate difficult situations and handle stress in healthier ways, without turning to substances. Gain coping skills to use in everyday life, relationships and moments of struggle.
- Building Confidence & Motivation (motivational interviewing) — Everyone’s journey is different. We meet you where you are by listening and asking questions to help you explore your goals and concerns, with compassion and without judgment. This process helps build motivation and confidence in taking the next steps forward.
- Continuing Support after IOP (aftercare) — We believe that the most effective treatment often includes continued group/peer support. In aftercare, we emphasize moving forward with relapse prevention skills, avoiding complacency in the recovery process and life skills. Aftercare supports your next three months of recovery in one group per week for a total of 12 sessions with three different opportunities offered:
- Traditional Aftercare — Wednesday 10 a.m. – noon (12 sessions)
- Women’s Aftercare — Tuesday 10 a.m. – noon (12 sessions)
- Evening Aftercare — Tuesday 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. (12 sessions)
- Providing Withdrawal Medication Management (MAT: medication assisted treatment) — MAT offers a safe medication management plan to help ease your physical cravings so that you can focus on recovery.
Rosary Hall Withdrawal Management Services
In partnership with The Centers, we offer access to safe, supervised care with medically supported withdrawal management services that stabilize individuals and prepare them for treatment.
A Legacy of Hope and Healing
The history of Rosary Hall is directly linked to the co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) through Sr. Ignatia Gavin, CSA, a member of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, who helped found Rosary Hall. Sr. Ignatia and Dr. Robert Smith were pioneers in addiction medicine when they began treating patients with alcoholism at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron in 1939. Dr. Bob and Bill Wilson had previously founded AA in 1935 in Akron. Sr. Ignatia worked closely with Bill W. and Dr. Bob and was fondly referred to as the “angel of Alcoholics Anonymous.” Her order called her to Cleveland in 1952 to help found Rosary Hall.
As pioneers in addiction medicine, Sr. Ignatia, Dr. Bob and Bill W. maintained the importance of treating people with dignity and respect. At Rosary Hall, we continue this legacy today with the medical model of addiction and the 12-step model of recovery. Through the decades, Rosary Hall has provided care, treatment and hope to over 100,000 people with drug and alcohol dependency.
